I have created this blog to inform others of my experience with citibank which can appalling.

How it all started
In April 2008 I moved from Perth, Western Australia to Melbourne in Victoria. I needed to change my postal address for my banks, health insurance etc. I am not a big fan of waiting on the phone for 30mins + waiting to speak to a customer service representative so I thought I would go to the city and visit the banks in person. I went to Commonwealth and changed my address easily, same at HSBC. My address was changed successfully and all correspondance started going to my new address.

Citibank Attempt 1

I then went to visit Citibank. After waiting 5 minutes for the 2 girls behind the counter to finish their conversation I told them that I wished to change my address. I was then presented with a form that looks like it was copied on a circa 1989 thermal fax machine. I filled out the form and then handed it to her. She said it would take several weeks to process.

Result:

I receive a bunch of documents at my new address about a fortnight later thanking me for requesting to add another signatory to my account. Hmmm strange, I dont remember asked to add another signatory. I ignored the letter and assumed that they must have changed my address.

A week or so later my family send forward me a letter from citibank that arrived at my Perth address. Its a statement and the payment is due in one day. It looks like they are sending crap I didnt ask for to my new address and my statements to my old address.

Attempt 2

I wasnt planning to visit the city any time soon so I thought I would call the Citibank 13 24 84 number and speak to them about changing my address. After following all the prompts and waiting 10 minutes I got through to the foreign call centre (Im guessing based in the Philipines by the accent) I was then told me they would have to transfer me through to someone else. I waited some more. I then spoke to someone whose command of the language left alot to be desired. They then rudely told me that they could not understand my australian accent and hung up.

To be continued...
